From Albertville the D925 turns up into the Beaufortain through Villard-sur-Doron, and the resort road climbs from there past Hauteluce to Les Saisies. The approach to Albertville, where all the valley traffic funnels together, is the known bottleneck on Saturday changeover days.
Albertville is where the fast road ends and the mountain section begins. The climb from there up to Les Saisies takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on conditions — a winding ascent that gains altitude the whole way, and the part of the journey where knowing the road actually matters.

Under the Loi Montagne, vehicles travelling to French Alpine resorts must carry winter tyres or snow chains between 1 November and 31 March. This is enforced, not advisory. The Cormet de Roselend is the one that matters here: it is the summer link from the Beaufortain across to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, and it is shut from autumn until late spring.
