The short version
- A Geneva to Val Thorens transfer costs from €237 (≈ £204) on a weekday. That is our standard or shared transfer for up to 3 passengers: door to door, in a minivan you may share with other travellers (maximum 3 stops); if nobody else books, it runs as a standard transfer just for you.
- A private 7-seat minivan is from €251 (≈ £216) and a private 8-seat minibus from €268 (≈ £231) — about €33.50 per person when eight travel.
- Other operators’ coach and shared-shuttle seats on this route were advertised from about £36 to £49 per person one way on 2 October 2026. For one or two people a coach seat is cheapest; from about six people a private vehicle costs less per head.
- Saturdays and peak dates cost more with every operator. The exact price for your date and address is shown before you pay.
- The drive is around 2h 30min for about 195 km in normal conditions.
Geneva to Val Thorens transfer cost by group size
Our standard or shared transfer is priced per booking for up to 3 passengers; private vehicles are priced per vehicle, not per seat. So the cost per person falls as the group grows — but not in a straight line, because a larger group needs a private vehicle:
| Group | Transfer | From (weekday) | Per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 people | standard or shared transfer (up to 3 passengers) | from €237 (≈ £204) | €118.50 (≈ £101.77) |
| 4 people | private 7-seat minivan | from €251 (≈ £216) | €62.75 (≈ £53.89) |
| 6 people | private 7-seat minivan | from €251 (≈ £216) | €41.83 (≈ £35.93) |
| 8 people | private 8-seat minibus | from €268 (≈ £231) | €33.50 (≈ £28.77) |
Skis, snowboards, boot bags and luggage are included, and child seats are fitted on request. See the price for your own date on the Geneva to Val Thorens transfer page, or all Val Thorens transfers from the four airports.
How that compares with a shared seat
Large coaches and the shared shuttles of other operators are sold per seat. These are the prices each operator published for Geneva Airport to Val Thorens when we checked:
| Operator | Published price | What it is | When it runs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alpine Fleet | from £36 / €42.50 per person | Shared transfer | Regular departures in season, per its page |
| Altibus | from €47 per adult | Scheduled airport coach to the Tarentaise | 2026/27 timetable not yet published on 2 October 2026 |
| Ben’s Bus | £49 single, £94 return per adult | Large coach to the Val Thorens bus station | Saturdays 5 December 2026 – 24 April 2027 and Sundays 13 December 2026 – 4 April 2027; no weekday service |
| Alps2Alps | from €53 / £44 per person | Headline price on its Geneva – Val Thorens page | Not stated next to the price |
| Go Transfer Peak | from €237 (≈ £204) per booking, up to 3 passengers | Standard or shared transfer, door to door; private vehicles from €251 | Every day |
Take the £49 coach seat as the yardstick. Two people pay £98 on the coach against about £204 for our standard or shared transfer — the coach wins clearly. Four people pay £196 against about £216 for a private 7-seat minivan — close, and the minivan goes to your door. Six people pay £294 against the same £216. Eight people pay £392 against about £231 for a private 8-seat minibus.
Two things the seat price does not show. First, the days: the Ben’s Bus coach does not run to Val Thorens on weekdays, which is exactly when our prices are lowest. Second, the last few hundred metres: a coach stops at the bus station, and Val Thorens is a large resort at 2,300 m — with skis and bags that walk, or a local taxi, is part of the real cost. Our longer comparison is in shared vs private transfer cost per person.
Private against private
Compare like with like: the same size of vehicle on the same kind of day. Alps2Alps’ 2026/27 cost guide gives private Geneva to Val Thorens transfers from £244 midweek for a vehicle for up to five passengers and £254 for up to eight (read on 2 October 2026). Our weekday from-prices for private vehicles are about £216 for a 7-seat minivan and £231 for an 8-seat minibus. Always compare quotes for your own date, group size and address — a “from” price is each company’s cheapest case.
What changes the price
- The day. Almost every chalet and apartment changes over on Saturday, so Saturday and school-holiday dates are priced higher by every operator. If your accommodation allows a Sunday or midweek arrival, that is the largest saving available. See weekday vs Saturday transfer prices.
- The option. The from-price is the standard or shared transfer for up to 3 passengers; private 7-seat and 8-seat vehicles cost more.
- The address. We price on the real road distance to your door, not on a resort zone, so give the exact address when you book.
- The airport. Chambéry to Val Thorens is the shortest drive (around 1h 40min) and costs from €206 (≈ £177); Grenoble to Val Thorens is from €259 and Lyon to Val Thorens from €290. In winter 2025/26 Chambéry’s scheduled UK flights ran at weekends only, so check the 2026/27 programme with your airline.
The road: Moûtiers and the last 37 km
From Geneva the route runs past Annecy and Albertville, then up the N90 to Moûtiers, where every vehicle bound for the Three Valleys leaves the dual carriageway. From Moûtiers the D117 climbs 37 km through the Belleville valley to Val Thorens at 2,300 m.
On the busiest Saturdays the Savoie prefecture regulates traffic on the N90 before Moûtiers, holding vehicles at a traffic light to keep the valley moving. That is the main reason a Saturday transfer takes longer than a weekday one. Expect the heaviest Saturdays around Christmas and New Year (French school holidays 19 December 2026 – 4 January 2027) and during the French February holidays, which run from 6 February to 8 March 2027 across the three school zones; many English schools take half-term in the week of 15 February 2027.
