Cheap ski transfers from Geneva: shared or private? The cost per person, worked out

A shared transfer is sold per seat. A private transfer is sold per vehicle. We sell both: a standard or shared transfer for parties of up to 3 (priced per booking, door to door, in a minivan you may share with other travellers) and private vehicles. That single difference decides which one is cheaper for you: the more people in your group, the less a private vehicle costs per head, while the coach seat costs the same whether you are two or eight.
The short version: on a weekday, our standard or shared transfer from Geneva Airport to Val Thorens starts from €237 (≈ £204) for up to 3 passengers. A group of four needs a private 7-seat minivan (from €251): about £54 each – a little more than a coach seat (£49). Eight people in a private 8-seat minibus (from €268) pay about £29 each.

Go Transfer Peak: weekday prices, one way, divided by the group size – our standard or shared transfer (up to 3 passengers) for 2 people, a private 7-seat minivan for 4 and 6, a private 8-seat minibus for 8 – as quoted by our booking engine on 2 October 2026; pounds are approximate. Saturdays and peak dates are priced higher. Shared: one-way adult seat on the large-coach service most UK skiers use, from its published 2026/27 price list, checked on 21 September 2026. Across three operators we checked that day, shared seats on this corridor were advertised from about £36 to £95 per person.
What the per-seat price does not show
- Days. The coach services we checked run at weekends only. If you fly midweek, a shared seat is usually not an option at all – and midweek is exactly when private prices are lowest.
- Door to door. A coach drops you at a bus stop or the resort coach station; you then carry skis and bags, or pay for a local taxi. A private transfer stops at your door.
- Waiting. A shared vehicle waits for other flights and stops at other resorts. A private driver tracks your flight and leaves when you are ready.
- Skis and bags. On the coach service we checked, a suitcase plus a ski bag counts as two items and the second one is charged. With us, skis and bags are included.
- Small children and pets. The coach service we checked does not carry children under four from Geneva and does not take animals. We carry both, and child seats are available on request – tell us the child’s age when you book.
So which one should you book?
- One or two people, arriving on a Saturday: the coach is cheaper. Book it early and travel light.
- Four or five people, any weekday: a private vehicle costs about the same or a little more per head than the coach, and is quicker and easier.
- Six to eight people: private is cheaper per head than the coach on weekdays, before you count the taxi at the other end.
- Families with small children, a dog, or a late flight: private, whatever the group size.
Cheap ski transfers from Geneva: where private becomes the cheaper option
The Tarentaise table above uses a £49 coach seat. On the shorter routes the shared seats are cheaper, so the point at which a private vehicle wins comes later – and to Chamonix it does not come at all. Private figures are per person at our weekday from-prices, using the vehicle that group needs.

Five ways to pay less for a Geneva ski transfer
- Arrive on a weekday or a Sunday if your accommodation allows it. It is the biggest single saving, with any operator. See weekday vs Saturday transfer prices.
- Count heads before you choose. One to three people: a shared seat or a coach. Six to eight: price a private vehicle per person first.
- Book the option your group needs. Our from-price is the standard or shared transfer for up to 3 passengers; a private 7-seat minivan and 8-seat minibus cost more, so two families in one minibus pay less per head than two small vehicles.
- Give the exact address. We price on the real road distance to your door rather than on a resort zone, so the lower village costs less than the top of the valley.
- Look at the airport. For the Three Valleys, Chambéry to Val Thorens starts from €206 against €237 from Geneva, when the flights suit.

Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest ski transfer from Geneva Airport?
For one to three people, a seat on a coach or shared shuttle: seats were advertised from €19.50 (Chamonix) to about €42.50 (Val Thorens) per person on 2 October 2026. For larger groups compare per person: an 8-seat private minibus works out at about €21.38 each to Morzine and €33.50 each to Val Thorens on a weekday.
When is a private transfer cheaper than a shared one?
It depends on the route. Against the cheapest seat we found published, a private vehicle costs less per person from six people to Val Thorens, from seven to Avoriaz and at eight to Morzine. To Chamonix the cheapest fixed-point shuttle stays cheaper at every group size.
Are ski transfers from Geneva cheaper on weekdays?
Yes. Saturdays and school-holiday dates are priced higher by every operator, because almost all accommodation changes over on Saturday. A Sunday or midweek arrival is usually the largest saving.
Do shared ski transfers run every day?
Not always. The large-coach service to the Tarentaise that we checked runs at weekends only, and scheduled buses to Morzine run only in the winter season. Check the days before you plan around a shared seat.
