The Geneva Airport to Champagny-en-Vanoise route in detail
From Geneva Airport the route runs south past Annecy to Albertville, then follows the N90 dual carriageway up the Tarentaise valley to Moûtiers. There it turns off towards Bozel on the D915, and from Bozel a 6 km mountain road climbs to Champagny-en-Vanoise at about 1,250 m.
Champagny is the south-facing side of La Plagne: the gondola from the village rises straight into the Paradiski ski area. By road, though, it is reached from Bozel and not from the main La Plagne road above Aime, so the transfer follows a different valley from the other La Plagne villages.
Winter driving on this route
Under the Loi Montagne, vehicles travelling to French Alpine resorts must carry winter tyres or snow chains between 1 November and 31 March. This is enforced, not advisory. Our vehicles run on winter tyres with chains carried as standard, so the driver fits them where the road demands it.
The climb from Bozel is short, but it is a mountain road with hairpins, and in fresh snow it is the slowest part of the journey. On peak Saturdays the queue builds on the N90 between Albertville and Moûtiers, which every Tarentaise transfer shares.
