The Geneva Airport to Valmorel route in detail
The drive leaves Geneva Airport on the A41 south past Annecy, then the A43 and A430 to Albertville and the N90 up the Tarentaise valley. The N90 is left at Aigueblanche, short of Moûtiers, and the road climbs from there into the Morel valley through Les Avanchers. The approach to Albertville, where all Tarentaise traffic funnels together, is the known bottleneck on Saturday changeover days.
Aigueblanche is where the fast road ends and the mountain section begins. The climb from there up to Valmorel takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on conditions — a winding ascent that gains altitude the whole way, and the part of the journey where knowing the road actually matters.

Under the Loi Montagne, vehicles travelling to French Alpine resorts must carry winter tyres or snow chains between 1 November and 31 March. This is enforced, not advisory.
